Accelerated Value Program offers dedicated assistance

One of the many offerings that IBM Software has is called the Accelerated Value Program (AVP), which is the division I work for.  It also goes by the pseudonym “premium support”, and I’d like to take a minute to talk about it and how it is valuable in the cloud space and in general.

There are lots of different analogies out there for it at the moment, but the one I like to think of is using a paper map versus a GPS device.  For the longest time I resisted using a GPS because I would have rather just look at a paper map and get a good feel of where I’m at and know that I truly know it.  But then I started seeing the value in a GPS and being able to put some of that direction stuff on the back burner and being able to pay more attention to the stuff around me and the destination and make more conscious course changes without worrying.

That’s kind of how I see AVP.  Some people don’t really want any services or help and want to make sure they know everything that is going on.  But let’s face it, no matter what product from anywhere you get, there is going to be some customization and personalization that you want to do to make it work just the way you want.  Well with AVP you have that personal guide to tell you what traffic is coming up and what route to take to get to your end destination. If detours come up on the way, AVP can help you adapt to those changes. Even if you hire the taxi equivalent of software services and get where you want to be, there may be some changes you want to make afterward.

Well with the Accelerated Value Program, you have a dedicated IBMer working with you who knows your environment and can help you better adapt to and fix any changes or problems that might arise. Especially in the cloud space with Tivoli Service Automation Manager (TSAM), Smart Cloud Provisioning (SCP), or IBM Service Deployment Manager (ISDM), there is a lot of customization that can be done to mold the software to your paradigm. Unfortunately all those customizations are out of the scope of the regular support channels. But, that’s where AVP can pick up the ball.  We have many Accelerated Value Specialists that are ready to learn the intricacies of your environment and adapt to any changes that might come up outside of the standard scope.

So, if you want some assistance on your route, consider signing up for the Accelerated Value Program and getting a dedicated guide on whatever route you are taking.
