IBM SmartCloud Enterprise and IBM SmartCloud Services continue to see strong market momentum, driven by innovation! On May 17th we made some important announcements focusing on advancements and client momentum related to our SmartCloud services and solutions capabilities. These announcements help strengthen the broad-based unique value that we deliver to companies like yours and thousands of others the world over.
There have been a number of articles and blog postings on the news. Some of our favorites include Cloudline on Wired.com -“IBM to the World: On Cloud Computing, You’ve Got Nothing on Us“, Charles Babcock’s article on informationweek.com IBM SmartCloud: As Much Cloud As You Want, IBM Advances SmartCloud and Adds New Customers, Partners on eweek.com and dozens of other.
For SmartCloud Enterprise we increased the service level agreement (SLA) to 99.9% based on the performance we have seen across all of our cloud centers around the world. This higher SLA positions SmartCloud Enterprise as a solid infrastructure factoring cloud-centric applications for a broad array of workloads. In addition, two new Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems; Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 will add new and improved functionality for enhanced performance, flexibility and security while Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 delivers improvements in virtualization, resource management and high availability, and offers new features in storage, file system performance and identity management.
Over the last few months, we have been busy enhancing and upgrading our cloud centers. These upgrades to the persistent storage system, increased speed and performance, while upgrades to embedded hypervisors now deliver greater security and performance improvements. We’re excited about the totality of these enhancements and the value that we expect they will provide to you our loyal customers.
But SmartCloud Enterprise is just a piece of a story. With availability of SmartCloud Enterprise+ now in North America and Europe and the promotion of our PaaS (Platform as a Service) offering from Beta to Pilot, we continue to build a portfolio that no other vendor can match. Add to that recent news on IBM PureSystems and it’s clear why IBM is the vendor that dynamic companies are turning to Rethink IT and Reinvent Business.
